Skin, Tatoos and Black and White

What's intriguing about black and white photos of women with tatoos?
This is the subject matter of a series of black and white photos taken by Wam Molina. He opened his exhibit last Oct 21, 2006. (ends November 6) entitled "Women and Ink". Each picture seems to narrate to the viewer the story behind each tattoo and likewise the story of the women who had her body tatooed.

I would have preferred that the photographer should have focused and magnified the tatoos themselves, but then again the entire exhibit would have lost it's meaning. The part were the tatoos were drawn and designed on the woman's body itself plays an essential part to the whole concept of why people have tatoos in the first place.A musical jam between friends followed the opening.

Opening of Baguio-Based Artist

Art Exhibit Opening is supposed to be fun?
Me thinks that it should always be this way. Who needs serious stuff nowadays? Not for these group of guys coming from the Northern part of the Philippines, to be specific the city of Baguio. Their collective work simply entitled "Abang Garrud" (excuse me I have yet to decipher the meaning) consists of art installation, mixed media work and paintings.
Here is a collection of some of the pictures I took, just two days before Manila was walloped by typhoon, Milenyo (millenium in english) knocking everything in its path, including most major electrical power (See my grunt from previous post...)
ART LIVES ON!

One Week Later Still no Electricity

Much as I don't want to admit it, I can't helped but feel really and slowly getting frustrated about the electric power situation where I stay. While the rest of our neighbors have began to have their electric power restored, our home (and some four more) are still languishing in darkness. There is something surreal and scary about the whole scene. Really. Going home at night and finding everybody having lights, just within your neighborhood whie your own house is in total darkness.

What can a I do?

Can I blame the weather ? Do I have the slightest the chance of suing this government ? Is it an ACT of GOD and NATURE ?

Good thing there is such a thing a getting stoned drunk and stumbling one's way to our room to wake up and all sweaty and fuming and cursing the power company. A the wonders of modern technology! All these gadgets laying around in the house, digital cameras, celphones, amps and mp3 players all waiting to be turned on IF only I have electricity in my house!

PS. This post is nothing but PURE RANT and GRUNT. DOn't despair though, things aren't as bad as it seems though, in fact this writer wannabe just came in from a one and half month break (literary) and decided to roam the earth once more.. more on that later .....
