Dr. Royal Hartigan@Penguin..
We had the pleasure of listening for two nights the music and performance of Mr. Royal Hartigan, visiting professor of african music, percussions and dance. The first one happened last December 21, when Mr. Hartigan's student at the University of the Philippines, (about 30 of them) came to dance and played some african based percussive music. The last performance, which was a week later happened on December 28th. This time he performed an all jazz repertoure. Invited guest musician like Tots Tolentino, alto sax player, Mike Guevarra, tenor sax player, Joey Quirino on the keyboards, Simon Tan on upright bass and Bo Razon on percussions. It was virtually a who's who sort of an all star jazz night and as usual, it was offered free to the public. What more can you ask ??
